Are You Tweeting in Vain?

Is your husband the only one reading your blog?

Do you retweet your own stuff just to make it appear like you’ve got followers?

Are you embarrassed that your Facebook Fan Page has one fan… and it’s YOU?

Hey, I’ve been there.

I knew it was important to have an online presence, but like any new method that I introduced into my network marketing biz, I understood that there would be a ramp-up phase.

In fact, I expected *not* to see any results right away.  I knew that every 140 character message would be just a small drop of water that would eventually become the flood needed to fill my marketing pipeline.

The net of it is: it just takes time.  Well FINALLY I made a great connection on Friday, and I can’t wait to tell you about it!  Check in out on this video below..

Just this weekend I attended an event where I met about 10 people who are all facebook friends. It was awesome walking up to these people and addressing them by name as if I had known them all my life. It was really cool.

This is so cool! I have yet to meet anyone in person, I’ve come close my YouTube friend in Milwaukee! So you are going on a video 30 day challenge? Each day out of the week you are going to post a video…I think I want to do that!
Fill me in on the details…please!

    Congratulations Melissa! That is awesome!

One of the key benefits is that I’ve connected with people who I normally don’t have access to and a great way to connect to form partnerships and joint ventures.

I’ve gotten coaching clients and students in my Genius Mentorship Academy from Facebook and Twitter.

When we do meet in person, it just makes it that much more special.

Keep up the great work! You have wonderful energy and people will flock to you. =)

    To Your Genius,

Melissa, What a great video! Is that your very first? I just did my second video (ever) this past Sunday. I had so much fun driving around my neighborhood looking for construction sites. The video is about constructing your life. It is called ‘Bliss Construction.’ Please check it out and let me know what you think. http://www.youtube.com/user/DrEricaG

I love Beth’s idea of taking a 30 day challenge and doing 30 videos and then turning them into blogs. However, my video took me FIVE HOURS. If I did that every day I would get nothing else done.

As far as tweeting and adding facebook friends and “likers,” this is a SLOW building process. There are some gurus that hype building a list in just a few short weeks. But social media is really about building relationships – and that takes time.

The best approach is to GIVE first. Send out your own uplifting or useful tweets. Retweet others. Comment on other people’s blogs and videos – and add backlinks to yourself. There are also sites, e.g., Twellow, that allow you to follow people using your own best keywords. You follow others and many of them will follow you back. You can later unfollow those who never do follow you.

It also pays to listen to all the free training videos and perhaps pay for some additional social media training. This online world is like getting another college education. It is complex, continually changing, but also fun. Recently, I got connected with a local LinkedIn Group in my area. That was such fun meeting people in person.

Thanks for your fun video and I look forward to more.

    Hey Melissa,
the message was good, but do you want to know what I really got out of it?? Doing the 30 day video challenge. My great friend Andrea keeps on at my to do it and maybe I should. You come across so well your eye dance in front of the camera. I’m looking forward to more of these.

    Keep smiling

Melissa – you actually met Beth FACE TO FACE? What a concept! Sometimes we HAVE to get out from behind our computers to save our sanity. I did the 30 day video challenge and it was a real eye opener! I will have to go check out your Youtube channel and see if you did it too.
