This is Sooooo true!

Hi Melissa, GREAT video! I’m so glad you touched on that, because although I have everything in my head what I need to accomplish, there is a lot up there
and somethings things just fall through the cracks! I definitely need to start writing down my goals and plans, and that should make a huge difference!

… and i’m a list fiend! i love a good “to do” list to keep on task!

That is so true, procastination habits almost always kills businesses. I always try to stick to my schedule or completes it before the week ends. Having my tasks listed on my calendar and to do list helps a lot in reminding me on what needs to be accomplished. Valuable advice, Melissa!

Melissa, What a great way to start each month – with an organized plan for the month. I have often listed goals, the amount of time being nebulous (maybe they will get accomplished this month, maybe this week, maybe next month). A long list of goals is important, but chunking it down to intentions for this month is a great approach. I have found that when I focus on just one week at a time, or one day at a time, there are often life circumstances or new priorities that interfere with the original plan. But setting the goals for the entire month allows for unexpected events, delays and challenges, but gives an achievable forcast and vision. And we know how visions have a way of materializing.

thanks for adding this… as they say “how do you eat an elephant?” it is so important to have the BIG PICTURE in mind to begin with, then put a plan in place step-by-step to make it all happen.

Hi Melissa,
How very true! I’m glad to say I’ve weaned myself off or procrastinating for the most part. Except for paperwork, where I admit to being a total disaster area… But I’ll fix that tomorrow, honest, it’s so true
August so far has been a time of new project set up and planning and the real work starts now. There’s a lot to be crammed in but it’s all so very exciting. I love it!
Thanks & regards,
Andrew

yes, it never ends! i understand the paperwork issue… i have a very clever pile-of-paper filing method, and oh my goodness, i spend too much time searching for post-its than i’d care to admit!

Hey Melissa,
You speak the truth so clearly,
Without a clear plan to work to and a DMO to chart your course, the days simply slide by and we are no closer to our goals.
And whats worse is that with every passing day, freedom becomes exponentially further away.
Thanks for the kick in the pants.

words of wisdom, thanks chris! i had a mentor explain that every month i missed my plan, i was delaying my goal by 3 months! OUCH!
11. August 2010 at 12:12 pm
I’m really good at making plans – not so good, unfortunately, at following them through.
And then, like you said, I find oodles of time has gone by and I’m nowhere near where I wanted to be.
So I stop trying.
Or at least, I USED to.
Now I’ve realized that there is no time But the present and no time Like the Present. And if I start now, I’ll be further ahead tomorrow.
Thanks for the reminder on what it takes to be really successful in this business. It’s good to see the inner workings of a great leader’s plan.
