Web 2.0 is amazing. Obviously, we’re both using it this very instant!
But there is something special about live events that surely take place within your network marketing opportunity that you don’t want to overlook.
Maybe it’s the handshake.
Maybe it’s the eye contact.
Maybe it’s the body language.
Maybe it’s the power of being in the same room with one hundred, one thousand, or 10,000 people that are all leveraging the same opportunity to pursue their goals and dreams.
There is an energy among people that are together in the same place and are simultaneously excited that cannot be duplicated.
Or it’s the story that the single mom struggling to raise 3 young kids that began your business during her lunch breaks at work and now is paying for her kids’ college educations.
Or perhaps you heard from the immigrant that told how he or she came to America last year, hardly spoke any English, began at the bottom in your business, and just made $15, 502.36 last month.
I mean how can you not picture yourself succeeding after hearing these moving stories? That’s why I believe that attending is a network marketing fundamental.
The value of attending cannot be seen or heard or felt in a chat room, on a webinar, or–pshaw!–on a blog post.
You just have to be there.
And that’s why you have got to get to your company’s annual event.
My company recently hosted a live event in Los Angeles that was the biggest training of the year.
And in 7 years of networking with my same company, I didn’t even hesitate to buy my ticket, book my flight, get a hotel room, and show up.
It’s what I call a “no brainer” in network marketing.
Why?
Because I *always* learn something impactful at the big events…
They always help me grow my business…
They inspire my team far more than I ever could…
And they are like a vacation… 4 days of FUN!
If you dread sitting in an auditorium for 8 hours a day watching a BOR-ing PowerPoint presentation, you have nothing to fear when attending a live event conducted by a company like mine.
Even David Beckham, whose soccer team is sponsored by my company, was there to dazzle us! I practically fainted!
Three little things happened to me that made this last event I attended the most powerful for me in my entire career with my company: I was approached by three individuals in my company who are not on my team, whom I have neither seen nor met before, that personally thanked me for blogging. I almost cried!
It was one of my proudest moments in my career. I was just so shocked that, well, someone was paying attention!
And it made the comment-less posts and the unanswered Tweets and the fan-less Facebook page all so worth it.
Most importantly, it affirmed my decision to pursue my social media efforts despite the slow ramp up and the constant voice asking me, “Is this worth it?”
But had I not gone, I never would have returned with the excitement and pride for what I’ve created this year online… I can’t wait till the next one!
Please comment about what you think about the live events… are they deemed “dead” in your company? Do you never miss a live event? Or, do you go, but only if it’s convenient? Let’s hear it…
And thanks for commenting below, and for re-Tweeting this to your network!

Oh I absolutely agree!
I went to the inaugural event for the Home and Small Business Network recently, and while the training etc was awesome, there was undoubtedly some special magic in actually meeting your Web2.0 friends face to face.
It really does make all those hours alone with your computer totally worthwhile!
So glad you’re back, goddess M.

Aloha Melissa,
Oh, I am so happy to see you back! We missed you!
And yes I love social media however, I have been going to live events for over 15 years and am proud to say I have been to every one of them! There is nothing which will ever replace the face to face interactions and the “energy” of a group of like-minded people.
Social media is a great place to start the relationships, events create “ohana” (family) forever!
Congratulations on your blog and the difference you are making in many people’s lives! You are truly an inspiration!
Much love & aloha,
Kellie
