If you don’t have the time to build your network marketing business, is it because you’d rather spend time in your “Second Life” than working on improving your financial one?
…Or are you stuck in a chat room debunking theories of “Lost” (Spoiler Alert: I heard there were several polar bears, not just one!)
Perhaps you find yourself in a black hole everyday between the time you come home from work and bedtime… seriously, where does the time go?
If you’ve asked yourself “Was I really on Facebook for the last hour?“ more than once in the past couple of weeks, consider this your intervention…
We all have the same 24 hours in a day… and none of us lie in bed staring at the ceiling and twiddling our thumbs with hours to spare each night.
So how are you going to find the time to build you biz?
Thanks for commenting below, and for re-Tweeting to your network!

Melissa you do the best videos. Right on with the negotiable and non-negotiable time. I wrote a post on my blog some time ago on this very thing. I think you have put it better than I did. I called mine the 3 D’s, Do it, Delegate it, Dump it. http://dirtnaponhold.com/the-3-ds-do-it-delegate-it-dump-it/ No matter, we all need to schedule ourselves and the best method is the method that gets you to do it. Super post as always.

love the 3 D’s nelson, thanks! you are so right: the best method is the one we DO

So true! I will take your tip of negotiable time and non negotiable time. It really does matter whether we want to make the change or not really… So making the change of how I use my negotiable time is worth it! Thanks!

I have a schedule of things I need to accomplish each day and make sure I finish the ones that’s on top priority first before doing anything else. Because I have a fulltime job on top of trying to build a business, and of course, family and chores, spending a lot of time on facebook, twitter, etc. is really not on top of my list. I do believe though, that I still have to establish my presence on those avenues so I use a tool to help me tweet my articles, quotes, tips, etc. and goes automatically to facebook which saves me a lot of time.

Aloha Melissa,
Yes, this is so great! When I was working my FT job 14 hrs or more/day, 5-6 days/wk, I had no free time, however, using a planner allowed me to still put in 20 hrs/wk to start my home based business. And yes, I used sleep time to do my home business, which allowed me to leave my FT job within 8 months! Then I had 24 hrs/day, 7 days per week to do my own home business!! Now, there was a lot of time!
Thank you for sharing such awesome tips for everyone to learn from!
Much love & gratitude,

Fabulous Video!! I love it. The best wake up call I had early in my career was when my mentor told me to take out a pad, and DOCUMENT down to the MINUTES, every single thing I did in a day. Mind you this was after complaining that my business was just not working. (can you hear the whine in my voice back then?) Well, I did it for two days, and found that I was wasting a ton of time, and not talking to nearly the number of people that were necessary to create a full pipeline of prospects, landing in sales!
It was a turning point in my business. I have since done this exercise with my people, and it WORKS.. I will also do what you suggest here! Makes total sense.
Thanks Melissa!

I have a business plan wheel that I use to chart my daily, weekly, monthly, twice a year and once a year goals. Everybody has the same 24 hours in a day it’s true.
I really like how you pointed out the the negotiable and non-negotiable time this is great advice from somebody who lives what she talks about! (-:

Hi Melissa, you are a natural video star! So congrats on that first! then, to time management – you nailed it! Choices, choices, choices! We choose how we live our lives, we choose the results we get and much of it revolves around what we consider to be negotiable or non-negotiable! Have a fab day and I so look forward to reading and watching MUCH more from you!
Thanks Melissa,

Hey there Melissa,
Great video first of all, you have a great natural speaking ability. Keep rockin with that, and second of all I get that objection ALL the time. People try to say that they cant fit building a business into their schedule… Well, somehow they fit in a J.O.B. they hate, lets figure out how to fit in a business so you can free yourself eh?!

Hey Melissa,
What a great simplified way to understand where we can find that extra time to work on our business.
We all have more “negotiable” time then we realize and when we truly want something we always find the time.
It’s funny or maybe not so funny that people will get into a network marketing business that can completely change their lives financially and they can’t find a spare minute. Then all of the sudden a friend calls to go to happy hour and “tada”, magically more time is available. Makes you realize why the 3% are succeeding and 97% aren’t.
Great stuff!

amen howie! i love the book “dare to dream, work to win” where dr tom barrett says, “when someone says they don’t have time for something, they have stated a priority, not a fact.”

I love your style! Honest and thought provoking posts every time I visit. Hmm, I’m not wasting time in Second Life, though I know I probably waste more time answering emails continually throughout the day instead of a set time.
I recently reviewed the book titled, The Other 8 Hours. The author’s idea was basically like yours. We all have to eat, sleep, work (take care of health, family, etc). If you want a business, you have the “other 8 hours” to build a new career or start a business. It’s a great mindset to have, and he gives great time saving tools as well as resources to help build a business, create a product, or just make an additional income.
I agree with you about taking the business seriously. I’ve been a freelancer for five years, but my business took off this year. And I’m sure it’s been because of a change in my mindset and keeping my focus.
Best,
Jennifer

Hi Melissa,
I love seeing you on video! You are spot on, lady and I’m rarely on Facebook for that reason as it’s mostly social on my network and you can easily get caught up on the chatters. You really do have to manage and be vigilant about being discipline. You have to think of your NM as a job. You’d get your butt fired if you didn’t show up for work every day

Hey Melissa,
Great idea of categorizing your time as negotiable or nonnegotiable. I have the luxury of not have to do that any more but I’m certainly passing this on to our distributors. Thanks so much.
By the way you have terrific energy on your video. I love it.

Melilssa,
I just love your description of the word JOB as the journey of the broke and your breakdown of time into negotiable and non-negotiable.
For me, planning every moment just does not work. No matter what I intend to accomplish on my to-do list, I inevitably run into other things I also want to accomplish that seem to take pre-eminence. For example, I plan to write a few more autoresponder messages but I suddenly am inspired to write a specific article or a blog post. My creativity and spontaneity are also non-negotiable. As long as I keep my intention clear, those tod-do items gradually get crossed off my life.

My day is schedule on what I call Daily Method of Operation, this includes everything that must be done in my business and my personal time. The way you explain negotiable and non=negotiable time is an excellent way to help someone who has not been in business.
