Did I say Jim? Obviously, I meant gym.
…but I refer to Jim Rohn, who passed away last Autumn. Jim Rohn was the first introduction I had to Personal Development. I was a naive 23-year-old who was only concerned with making money and not interested in helping others. Oh, how things have changed!
Jim Rohn taught me that for things to change, I had to change…
And he taught me, “Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.”
And one of my favorites, “Let others lead small lives, but not you. Let others argue over small things, but not you. Let others cry over small hurts, but not you. Let others leave their future in someone else’s hands, but not you.”
What gems Jim has left us! I only met him once, but I heard from those he was close with that he so looked forward to the next chapter in his life after death… and what an incredible legacy he has left behind.
I recorded a short video here about my most inspirational Jim Rohn quote, but first here’s a quick Jim Rohn story from one of my colleagues Mary that you’ll get a kick out of:
Mary was at the Las Vegas McCarran airport when she ran into Jim in line for tacos at an eatery while waiting for their respective flights to board. Mary said, “Oh Jim! I love your teachings! I listen to your CDs and read your books… can you give me a tidbit or a bit of advice to help me build my business?” Jim obliged her with something he mentioned that he was just working on. He wrote in Mary’s journal, “In business you have one of two problems: too much business, or not enough.” Beautiful!
Back to my Jim/gym pun–if it’s not scheduled, it rarely gets done… right?! Today, book a time slot in your calendar when you will practice Personal Development…because your business will only grow as fast as you do!

Melissa,
I wish I could have met Jim. What a wonderful man who touched the lives of millions. When I was introduced to personal development at the age of 23, Jim Rohn was the first to start changing my life. I have changed so much as a person, it is truely incredible.
Thanks for the great post.

Aloha Melissa,
I love this post about Jim! Thank you so much for honoring our great mentor. I had the privilege to work with Jim and to host a call with him. He was so wise and as you know, his philosophy is timeless. We now have the responsibility to carry on his legacy, so his words will live on forever.
At the last event we saw him at he said “They will be in the dark, until you show them the light. And they will be making $1/day, until you show them how to make more.” I’ll always remember those words.
Thank you for the reminder today.
Much love & gratitude,
Kellie
